Our Story
Adventure Roasters was born from Brett Baker’s lifelong pursuit of adventure. Every twist and turn in his life has been about pushing limits, finding new challenges, and exploring the unknown—and coffee became a natural part of that journey. From the beginning, Brett wasn’t your average coffee drinker. He needed something that could keep up with his pace—a fuel for the extreme adventures that defined his life. But store-bought coffee wasn’t cutting it, and he quickly realized that if he wanted a cup that matched his lifestyle, he’d have to create it himself.
Brett’s love for the outdoors started young. Growing up in Southern California, he was practically raised in the water, competing in swim races, lifeguarding, surfing, and taking on open water marathon swims. Everyone around him thought he’d always be tied to the ocean, but Brett’s drive to push boundaries led him to explore new terrains. Soon, he was tackling triathlons, Ironman races, and summiting mountains. His quest for adventure wasn’t limited to land or water—it expanded into the sky, where he became a pilot, exploring remote areas of Alaska by helicopter and plane. His YouTube channel, Cleared To Adventure, showcases his passion for flying and the wild, untamed experiences that go along with it.
Through all these adventures, coffee remained his constant companion. Long hours training for Ironman events, pre-dawn flights into the Alaskan wilderness, and intense mountain treks all required the right fuel. But the bitter, over-processed coffee available in stores just didn’t match the depth and boldness of the life Brett was living. That’s when his love affair with craft coffee began.
In 2008, Brett got his hands on a popcorn popper and a bag of green beans from Guatemala that he’d bought on eBay. On his patio, he roasted his first batch of coffee—an experiment that would become the foundation for Adventure Roasters. While it wasn’t perfect, that first roast sparked something inside him, much like the first time he took on a triathlon or piloted his plane to a remote glacier. It was the start of something bigger.
True to his nature, Brett didn’t stop at just roasting coffee for himself. As his skills grew, so did his passion for finding the best beans from around the world. He learned the art of roasting through trial and error, constantly refining his process until he was roasting coffee that could fuel any adventure. What started as a hobby for his personal stash quickly turned into something he shared with his friends—fellow adventurers who needed a strong, flavorful brew for their own backcountry expeditions. He roasted so much that he couldn’t possibly drink it all, so he gave it away, sending his blends along with his friends on their next big journeys.
Eventually, Brett realized he could take this passion and turn it into something that spoke to more than just his immediate circle. Adventure Roasters was born out of that idea: to provide coffee that doesn’t just wake you up but inspires you to chase your next adventure. Every blend reflects Brett’s journey—from the water to the mountains to the skies—crafted for those who live life on the edge and need coffee that can keep up.
